UN condemns continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, urges de-escalation

The United Nations has condemned the continued cross-border attacks by Houthi militias against Saudi Arabia, including attempts to target Riyadh and assaults on civilians and energy infrastructure, calling on all parties to exercise restraint and prevent further escalation.

UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric expressed deep concern during a press briefing today over the escalating military situation in Yemen and surrounding areas, highlighting Houthi attacks in Taiz, Lahij, and Marib, and their serious impact on civilians in Yemen and the wider region.

He stressed the need to respect obligations under international humanitarian law, including the prohibition of direct attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
