Arab League chief voices support for Saudi Arabia amid Houthi threats

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy has reaffirmed the League’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support in confronting any threats to the Kingdom’s security, stability, and sovereignty.

His remarks came in response to recent statements by the military spokesperson of the so-called Houthi group, which included accusations and threats against Saudi Arabia. Fahmy described these comments as a serious and unacceptable escalation that could fuel regional tensions and undermine ongoing regional and international efforts to promote calm, security, and stability.

Fahmy called on the Houthi group to halt its inflammatory rhetoric and refrain from any statements or actions that could further escalate tensions. He stressed that dialogue and commitment to political efforts remain the only path toward a comprehensive resolution of the Yemeni crisis.

He reiterated that the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia are integral to the collective security of the Arab world.

Fahmy also affirmed the Arab League’s support for all legitimate measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its national security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
