Royal Commission completes master plan for northeast Riyadh

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has announced the completion of the initial master plan for the area located northeast of Riyadh, covering approximately 456 square kilometers. The area is strategically situated, connected to King Khalid International Airport, Wadi Al-Sulay, and the Dammam and Janadriyah roads.

The plan aims to provide a comprehensive vision for land use in the area, based on key principles such as establishing a long-term urban model that allows for phased expansion and designing integrated communities that combine residential areas with daily services. It also focuses on a balanced distribution between residential, economic, recreational, and natural zones.

This plan is part of long-term efforts to guide Riyadh’s expansion, as the city experiences rapid urban, population, and economic growth. It will help organize one of the capital’s future growth directions, meeting current and future needs, with an emphasis on improving quality of life, increasing green spaces, and preserving natural valleys through balanced and interconnected planning.

Initial planning phase and future steps

Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Sultan, CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, stated that the initial master plan is an important step in the capital’s development and reflects the Commission’s commitment to anticipating the city’s needs and organizing its expansion.

The Commission emphasized that this is an initial planning phase and not the announcement of a new executive project. Further planning stages will follow, including the preparation of detailed plans for different areas by the relevant authorities. Updates will be announced through the official channels of the Commission and other concerned entities.
