Transport General Authority advances road sector, boosts local content

The Transport General Authority is pressing ahead with its plan to develop the road sector and enhance its sustainability, with a focus on increasing local content, localizing industries, transferring knowledge, and boosting private sector participation in road projects.

The authority explained that strengthening local content relies on setting annual targets for each project based on its nature and size, as well as introducing standards and requirements aimed at supporting national industry and creating new opportunities for industry localization and knowledge transfer, thereby contributing to the local economy.

On the regulatory side, the authority continues to expand the application of modern technical standards as part of efforts to build an effective legislative and oversight framework, and to establish a unified and transparent system that supports policy integration and raises levels of regulatory compliance.

The authority is also working to improve road safety and efficiency, and to enhance infrastructure quality to improve the experience for road users, while adopting innovative business solutions and systems aimed at increasing efficiency and sustainability.

These efforts fall within the authority’s responsibility to oversee, regulate, and support the growth of the road sector, contributing to a growing and sustainable sector and advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
