Missing man found near Rafha after two-day search using drones

Protection teams from the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority have found a missing person two days after he disappeared in a rugged desert area within the reserve, north of Rafha.

The authority explained that the field search operation, supported by aerial surveillance using drones, led to locating the missing man about 45 kilometers from the nearest road.

The authority added that protection teams from the Khuwa’a Center met a search and rescue team during their field patrols, where they exchanged information about the missing person and his vehicle. The data was immediately relayed to the authority’s operations room, which began monitoring the case and coordinating with relevant agencies.

Surveillance technology and field coordination

Given the vast search area and the difficulty of reaching some locations by traditional means, the teams conducted successive aerial sorties, redirecting routes and expanding surveillance based on available information. The authority confirmed that the expertise of the protection team members and their knowledge of the terrain contributed to the accuracy and efficiency of the ongoing search.

Aerial surveys led to spotting a vehicle matching the description in a remote location about 45 kilometers from the nearest road. Coordinates were determined, and the missing man was found in good health.

The authority’s operations room provided the precise coordinates and coordinated with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, search and rescue teams, and the missing man’s family, while tracking the teams’ movements until he was reached and handed over safely.
