Wafa Al-Marzouqi becomes Saudi Arabia’s first female consul general

Wafa bint Abdullah Al-Marzouqi was sworn in before Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan after being appointed as Saudi Arabia’s consul general in Houston, United States, making her the first Saudi woman to hold the position of consul general.

The oath stated: “I swear by Almighty God to be loyal to my religion, then to my king and country, not to disclose any state secrets, to safeguard its interests and regulations at home and abroad, and to perform my duties with honesty, integrity, and dedication.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah oversaw the swearing-in ceremony for the two new consuls general at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Riyadh, attended by several ministry officials.

Wafa bint Abdullah Al-Marzouqi, appointed as consul general in Houston, United States, and Dr. Sultan bin Farraj Al-Nafel, appointed as consul general in Erbil, Iraq, both took the oath before the minister.
