Thunderstorms and hail expected across several Saudi regions Wednesday

The National Center for Meteorology has forecast continued moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday, leading to possible flash floods, hail showers, and strong winds raising dust and sand across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah, extending to areas of Madinah.

The center also indicated that fog may form over these regions and along the eastern coastal areas. There is also a chance of light to moderate thunderstorms with strong winds in parts of Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders region.

The report added that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly at 20–45 km/h, shifting in the evening to northeasterly to southeasterly at 10–32 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with thunderclouds. Wave heights will range from half a meter to 1.5 meters, exceeding 2 meters during thunderstorms, with sea conditions from slight to moderate, becoming rough with thunderclouds.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be northerly to northwesterly at 10–40 km/h, shifting after noon to northerly to northwesterly at 10–35 km/h. Wave heights will range from half a meter to 1.5 meters, with sea conditions from slight to moderate.
