Buraidah International Dates Carnival creates 4,000 seasonal jobs in Qassim

The Buraidah International Dates Carnival is driving economic activity in the Qassim region by creating nearly 4,000 direct and indirect seasonal jobs over its 75-day run, supporting the local economy and providing employment in organizing and operating the event.

The carnival is the world’s largest seasonal event for date marketing, witnessing vibrant commercial and economic activity that stimulates the date trade sector, boosts sales, and increases demand for shipping, transport, and logistics services. This, in turn, supports supply chains and enhances the efficiency of product distribution to both local and international markets.

Supporting Vision 2030 and boosting competitiveness

The carnival aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by supporting agricultural development, diversifying income sources, strengthening local content, and improving the date sector through organizational and digital initiatives led by the National Center for Palms and Dates. These efforts enhance the sector’s competitiveness and ensure sustainable growth.

Growing turnout and diverse opportunities

Dr. Khalid Al-Naqidan, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee and CEO of the carnival, said the event enjoys direct support from Qassim Governor Prince Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, which has helped establish the carnival as one of the Kingdom’s leading economic and agricultural gatherings.

Al-Naqidan noted that increasing numbers of visitors, shoppers, and investors from inside and outside the Kingdom have positively impacted economic activity, creating seasonal jobs in organization, marketing, auctioneering, shipping, logistics, and supporting professions.

Supporting productive families and entrepreneurs

He added that the committee has allocated spaces for productive families to display and market their goods, as well as areas for food trucks, encouraging the participation of small businesses and entrepreneurs and offering a variety of services to visitors.

Al-Naqidan emphasized that the carnival continues to play a key economic and developmental role by supporting the date sector, stimulating trade, empowering national talent, and enhancing the contribution of seasonal events to economic development.
