Saudi grand mufti praises Ikram Food Bank's efforts to reduce food waste

Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, and president of the General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta, received Dr. Ahmed bin Harbi Al-Mutrafi, chairman of the board of Ikram Food Bank, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday at the General Presidency headquarters in Taif.

The grand mufti praised the association’s efforts to preserve blessings by making use of surplus food and delivering it to those in need, highlighting its role in strengthening values of solidarity, compassion, and community service.

He listened to a detailed presentation on the association’s activities, programs, and initiatives aimed at reducing food waste, as well as the services provided to beneficiaries, which help maximize the use of food resources and support charitable and community work.

Sheikh Al-Fawzan emphasized the importance of preserving blessings, describing it as a reflection of Islamic values such as gratitude, stewardship, and cooperation in righteousness and piety. He prayed for continued success and blessings for those working with the association.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Fahd bin Saad Al-Majid, secretary-general of the Council of Senior Scholars.
