Digital District initiative hailed as global model for digital transformation

Abdulrahman Al-Mutraf, professor of communications and information technology at King Saud University, has emphasized the significance of the Digital District initiative.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Ikhbariya Radio, Al-Mutraf described the initiative as a global pioneer that embodies comprehensive digital transformation by developing infrastructure and technology-supporting facilities.

He added that this includes the development of premises and buildings designed to support digital transformation, noting that the initiative is not just a standalone technology project but a step toward moving from digital transformation to a digital economy.

The professor noted that Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in building digital infrastructure in communications and cybersecurity. He said the next phase will focus on maximizing the economic returns from these sectors by turning technology into investments, companies, high-quality jobs, innovation, intellectual property, and digital exports.

The Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City recently launched the "Digital District in Riyadh," one of its key strategic initiatives aimed at making the capital a global hub for tech talent and digital creativity.
