Lawyer outlines three key steps to prevent cybercrime and hacking

Lawyer Helail Al-Harbi has outlined key mechanisms for obtaining necessary protection in the digital world.

Speaking in an interview broadcast on Al-Saudiya TV, Al-Harbi said that cyber and electronic crimes are committed via the internet, leading perpetrators to believe they are beyond the reach of the law and regulatory authorities by using fake accounts. However, he noted that the state possesses digital capabilities that ensure offenders can be tracked down.

He added that criminals may target victims by exploiting their interests, such as searching for a house, a car, or a job. Offenders may open records and misuse data, leaving victims surprised to find themselves implicated in a crime.

Regarding how to protect data from hacking, Al-Harbi stressed the importance of awareness and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality for personal information and passwords to avoid breaches. He also advised promptly contacting the bank if any breach occurs.
