Historic Madinah farms offer date-picking experience during date season

Historic farms in Madinah are offering visitors the chance to pick fresh dates as part of the Madinah Date Season events.

Visitor Ahmed Abdullah, an Egyptian, told Al Arabiya that his experience at the historic farms was indescribable, especially as he visited a place where the Prophet Muhammad once walked.

Ayman, from Makkah, added that this was his first time picking dates, describing the experience as deeply calming and peaceful. He noted that while he had attended similar events in Taif, this was his first such experience in Madinah.

Madinah is preparing to welcome visitors for the 2026 Madinah Date Season, which begins next Monday and runs until August 2 at the Madinah Central Dates Market.

The season combines economic, cultural, and heritage aspects, highlighting Madinah's identity tied to palm trees and dates, and introducing local traditions. It also provides platforms to showcase date products and derivatives, supporting marketing opportunities for producers and farmers.

The season features daily date auctions, stalls for palm products, and activities highlighting handicrafts made from palm fronds, reflecting the authenticity of Madinah's heritage and its ongoing role as part of the region's cultural and economic identity.
