Saudi food authority blocks over 301 tons of contaminated products in Q2 2026

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority announced it had prevented more than 301 tons of non-compliant food products from entering the Kingdom during the second quarter of 2026, after tests confirmed contamination with microbes that could cause food poisoning.

The authority stated that this measure is part of its ongoing regulatory efforts to protect consumer health and reinforce compliance with approved regulations and requirements, reflecting the effectiveness of its oversight system in ensuring food safety and safeguarding public health.

During the same period, the authority carried out 17,096 inspection visits to establishments under its supervision, resulting in the detection of 1,960 violating establishments and 1,016 non-compliant products, as part of its drive to raise compliance levels and verify adherence to technical regulations and standards.

The authority emphasized the importance of adhering to official regulations and legislation, affirming its continued monitoring of products and establishments under its supervision and its commitment to taking legal action against violators, which may include suspension of activities, imprisonment, or fines of up to 10 million Saudi riyals (SAR).
