Two executed in Eastern Province for amphetamine trafficking

The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday, 7 Safar 1448 AH (corresponding to July 21, 2026), carried out the execution of two individuals in the Eastern Province after they were convicted of smuggling and distributing amphetamine pills into the Kingdom.

The ministry identified the offenders as Ahmed Mohammed Khadoum Al-Shibli, an Omani national who smuggled the amphetamine pills, and Haider bin Ali bin Alawi Abu Al-Rahi, a Saudi national who brought in the same quantity for the purpose of distribution.

The ministry added that security authorities apprehended the two men, and investigations led to charges being filed against them. The specialized court issued a verdict confirming their guilt and sentenced them to death as a discretionary punishment. The ruling was upheld on appeal and confirmed by the Supreme Court, followed by a royal order for its implementation.

Emphasis on protecting society from drugs

The Ministry of Interior reiterated the Saudi government's commitment to safeguarding citizens and residents from the dangers of narcotics, stressing that the harshest penalties will be imposed on traffickers and dealers due to the severe harm drugs cause to society and individuals.

The ministry warned that anyone involved in smuggling or distributing drugs will face legal consequences, emphasizing ongoing efforts to combat this crime.
