Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh performs first kidney transplant

The Ministry of Interior’s medical services have achieved a new milestone by performing the first kidney transplant at Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh. The procedure was carried out as part of the hospital’s organ transplantation program, reflecting the advancement of specialized care and the hospital’s growing capabilities in delivering precise, advanced treatments to the highest medical standards.

The successful operation was performed on a 32-year-old patient suffering from kidney failure. His 35-year-old sister donated one of her kidneys after thorough medical examinations confirmed her suitability as a donor. A multidisciplinary medical and surgical team performed the procedure, which was completed successfully. Both the donor and recipient are in stable condition and are receiving the necessary medical care.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the Ministry of Interior’s medical services and demonstrates Security Forces Hospital Riyadh’s readiness to conduct organ transplants. The hospital’s integrated system includes qualified medical staff, advanced technical equipment, and supportive clinical infrastructure, helping to expand specialized services and reduce the need to refer patients to other centers.
