Saudi-Omani ties set example for Gulf relations, says ambassador

Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Oman, Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, has said that the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Oman is a key pillar supporting the Gulf Cooperation Council, reflecting both countries’ commitment to regional stability and to coordinating political and economic positions that serve the interests of the region’s people.

In a statement marking the visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman to Saudi Arabia, Ambassador bin Bishan highlighted the deep-rooted and historic ties between the two nations and their peoples. He noted the attention these relations receive from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He added that Saudi-Omani relations are built on a long history of brotherhood, good neighborliness, and mutual respect, and have been distinguished by cooperation, understanding, and ongoing coordination between the two leaderships on regional and international issues for over half a century.

He pointed out that the visit carries significant meaning amid regional changes and challenges, as Saudi-Omani relations serve as a model for Gulf ties based on dialogue, understanding, and coordination, which bolster the region’s security and stability and support paths to development and prosperity. He also emphasized that bilateral relations extend beyond politics to include economy, investment, trade, tourism, culture, and media.

He added: "The relationship between the two brotherly countries is moving toward a new phase of future partnership, including clean energy and green hydrogen, joint electricity grid projects, the Gulf railway, and shared tourism initiatives aimed at developing destinations in both countries through exchange programs and joint marketing plans."

The ambassador concluded by praying for the continued safety of Saudi Arabia and Oman and lasting bonds of affection and brotherhood between their leaders and peoples.
