Bahrain backs Saudi measures to protect sovereignty and security

Bahrain has strongly condemned and denounced the attempted terrorist attack targeting oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and Riyadh, using drones launched from Iraqi territory and carried out by Iran-backed militias.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the attack constitutes a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, a clear challenge to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, a threat to regional security and stability and energy supplies, and a systematic undermining of de-escalation efforts.

The ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to defend its territory and vital civilian facilities. It stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are integral to Bahrain’s own national security, and that any threat to the Kingdom affects the security of the entire region and the interests of its peoples.

The ministry also emphasized the Gulf Cooperation Council’s position calling for the swift implementation of the decision to restrict weapons to state control in Iraq within the timeframe announced by the Iraqi government, and called for all necessary and decisive measures to prevent Iraqi territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks on neighboring countries.

Earlier, Ministry of Defense spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki confirmed that air defenses had intercepted and destroyed several drones in recent hours that attempted to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh. He noted that these terrorist attempts originated from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-backed militias, affirming Saudi Arabia’s legitimate right to defend itself and its assets, and its right to respond at the appropriate time and place.
