Political analyst Sami Al-Murshid said Saudi Arabia continues to support the Yemeni people in confronting the Iran-backed Houthi militia, which threatens regional security and international shipping.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Ikhbariya Radio, Al-Murshid added that Saudi Arabia has opposed the Houthi militia since the beginning of its coup against Yemen’s legitimate government, and continues to fulfill its duty to support the Yemeni people by all available means.

He noted that Saudi Arabia is fully aware of the danger posed by the Houthis to Yemen, the region, and the world at large, a threat demonstrated by their actions. The Houthis, he said, are a tool of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, acting on its orders. They remained silent for four years during the truce, but when Iran’s situation worsened, the IRGC directed them to escalate attacks on international shipping.

Al-Murshid continued that the embattled regime in Tehran ordered the Houthis to try to reach the Red Sea, mirroring Iran’s tactics in the Strait of Hormuz to pressure the international community. He added that the Houthis have also targeted Saudi Arabia’s southern cities recently, as the Kingdom is the main supporter of Yemen and its legitimate leadership in the fight against the militia.
