Augsburg go top of Bundesliga with 4-1 win over Frankfurt

Augsburg moved to the top of the Bundesliga after a commanding 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday in the second round of the competition.

The scoring began with an own goal by Frankfurt's Ellyes Skhiri in the 46th minute, followed by a second for Augsburg from Ruben Villhauer just a minute later. Alexis Claude-Maurice added a third in the 65th minute, and Fabian Rieder sealed the win with a fourth in the 89th. Eintracht Frankfurt's only goal came in the 6th minute.

The result lifts Augsburg to six points and first place in the standings, while Eintracht Frankfurt remain on one point in 13th position.

Mainz claim first win with five-goal performance

In another match from the same round, Mainz secured their first victory of the season with a 5-0 thrashing of Hamburg. Philipp Tietz scored twice in the 48th and 83rd minutes, with Sheraldo Becker netting in the 19th, Philipp Mwene in the 41st, and Ransford adding a fifth in stoppage time (90+1).

This marks Mainz's first win of the current campaign, while Hamburg suffered a second consecutive defeat and remain bottom of the table with no points.
