Heavy thunderstorms and dust storms forecast for several regions Saturday

The National Center of Meteorology has forecast heavy thunderstorms today, likely to cause flash floods and accompanied by hail, across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah. Lighter to moderate rainfall is expected over southern parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Madinah, and parts of Najran. Strong winds stirring dust and sand will continue to affect these areas, as well as parts of Hail, Tabuk, and Al-Jouf.

The report noted that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at 10–34 km/h in the north, and southwesterly to northwesterly at 10–30 km/h in the central and southern sections, reaching up to 50 km/h with thunderclouds. Wave heights will range from half a meter to 1.5 meters in the north, and from half a meter to one meter—possibly exceeding two meters with thunderstorms—in the central and southern parts. Sea conditions will be light to moderate in the north, and light to rough with thunderstorms in the central and southern sections.

Winds over the Arabian Gulf are expected to be northwesterly to northeasterly at 15–30 km/h in the northern and central parts, and northeasterly to southeasterly at 10–25 km/h in the south. Wave heights will range from half a meter to 1.5 meters in the north and center, and from half a meter to one meter in the south. Sea conditions will be light to moderate in the northern and central parts, and light in the south.
