Former KFUPM president Bakr bin Abdullah Bakr dies

Bakr bin Abdullah Bakr, former president of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, has passed away after a lifetime of contributions to science and academia.

Bakr was regarded as one of the most influential figures in his field, playing a key role in developing top talent across the sectors where he held leadership and academic positions.

He was the first Saudi petroleum engineer and used his expertise to advance both the energy and education sectors in the Kingdom, further enhancing his skills in management and diplomacy.

Bakr was born in Taif in 1359 AH (1940 CE), where he completed his early education before earning a scholarship to the United States. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas in 1963.

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals mourned his passing and extended its condolences to his family.
