Makkah Municipality boosts infrastructure with ongoing field projects

Makkah Municipality is continuing its field operations as part of an integrated system of maintenance and operational projects, covering roads, bridges, public facilities, lighting, tunnels, and parks. These efforts aim to enhance infrastructure efficiency and maintain the readiness of public amenities.

Road and pavement works included asphalting 4,590 cubic meters, applying 4,030 square meters of road markings, installing 2,030 square meters of interlock tiles and slip molds, and laying 1,886 linear meters of curbstones. Bridge maintenance involved 194 routine operations, 2,230 square meters of surface grinding and painting for concrete surfaces, 700 square meters of interlock tiles and slip molds, and 4,400 linear meters of curbstones.

For facilities, lighting, and tunnels, the municipality carried out maintenance on 26 pedestrian bridges, 81 public restrooms, and one vehicle impound facility. Additional work included servicing 1,820 lighting towers and poles, cleaning and washing 5,344 meters of tunnels, and operating and maintaining 42 fire alarm and suppression systems to ensure operational efficiency and service continuity.

In parks and landscaping, the work covered mowing 8,000 square meters of green spaces, trimming and pruning 718 trees, and cutting and shaping 11,620 square meters of hedges.

The municipality affirmed that field operations will continue according to ongoing operational plans, aiming to improve the efficiency and readiness of roads and facilities and to enhance service quality in Makkah.
