Al-Baha University climbs 113 places in 2026 UI GreenMetric ranking

Al-Baha University has advanced 113 places in the 2026 UI GreenMetric global ranking compared to last year, now ranking 1,076th worldwide and 14th nationally among 2,016 educational institutions from 110 countries.

In a statement on its X account, the university said this progress reflects its efforts to develop institutional and environmental sustainability, improve facility efficiency and resource management, and promote sustainability initiatives and environmental awareness, as well as enhance the quality of the campus environment.
UI GreenMetric is a specialized global ranking that evaluates the sustainability performance of higher education institutions. It is based on criteria and indicators related to infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste and water management, transportation, education, and research.

Dean of Development and Quality at the university, Dr. Muhannad bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, said this achievement reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing institutional performance and embedding quality and sustainability concepts into practices that positively impact the educational environment. He noted that this progress is the result of integrated efforts across all university sectors.

For his part, Dr. Abdulilah bin Shalah Al-Juhani, Vice Dean of Development and Quality for Rankings and Excellence, said the university’s advancement demonstrates improvements in sustainability indicators and systematic development of related practices, as well as enhanced quality, monitoring, and analysis of institutional data. He affirmed that efforts will continue to improve performance indicators and strengthen the university’s presence in international sustainability rankings.

This progress comes as part of Al-Baha University’s ongoing efforts to develop its campus environment, improve resource efficiency, and embed sustainability practices in its operations and programs, supporting institutional development and raising its standing in international rankings.
