Hot weather and thunderstorms expected across several regions Monday

The National Center for Meteorology, in its daily report, forecast continued hot to extremely hot weather on Monday, August 10, 2026 (27 Safar 1448 AH), across parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Qassim, and the Northern Borders.

The report indicated that there remains a chance of thunderstorms accompanied by hail showers over parts of Najran, Jazan, and Asir, with ongoing strong winds raising dust and sand in those areas, as well as parts of Makkah and Madinah regions.

The center added that rain-bearing thunderclouds are expected to form, accompanied by strong winds, over eastern and southeastern parts of the Kingdom. Fog may develop overnight and in the early morning along the coastal areas of these regions, as well as parts of the Tabuk coastline.

Wind and sea conditions

The report noted that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to southwesterly at speeds between 10 and 30 km/h, reaching up to 40 km/h over the central and southern parts, and possibly up to 50 km/h with thundercloud formation in the south.

Wave heights will range from half a meter to one meter in the north, and from half a meter to one and a half meters in the central and southern parts, exceeding two meters with thunderstorms in the southern section. Sea conditions will be slight in the north, slight to moderate in the central and southern parts, and rough with thunderstorms in the south.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds will be northeasterly to southeasterly at 10–28 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h with thunderclouds in the central and southern areas. Waves will rise from half a meter to one meter, exceeding two meters with thunderstorms, and sea conditions will be slight, becoming rough with thunderstorms in the central and southern sections.
