Saudi standards authority to mandate environmental labels for paints, varnishes from October 2026

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization has announced that environmental performance labels will become mandatory for paints and varnishes sold in the local market starting October 1, 2026.

The organization explained that the environmental performance label provides consumers with information to help them assess a product’s environmental efficiency, raising awareness and encouraging the use of more eco-friendly products.

Manufacturers and suppliers are urged to complete all technical and procedural requirements and obtain the label before the enforcement date. The authority emphasized the importance of complying with the technical regulations for paints and varnishes.

The organization noted that products failing to meet the requirements after the implementation date will be subject to approved regulatory actions.

Manufacturers and suppliers can apply for certification through the "Maneh" online portal at: https://maneh.saso.gov.sa/.
