Saudi standards authority to mandate environmental labels for paints, varnishes from October 2026

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization has announced that environmental performance labels will become mandatory for paints and varnishes sold in the local market starting October 1, 2026.

The authority explained that the environmental performance label provides consumers with information to help them assess the environmental efficiency of products, raising awareness and encouraging the use of more environmentally friendly options.

Manufacturers and suppliers are urged to complete all technical and procedural requirements and obtain the label before the enforcement date, with the authority emphasizing the importance of complying with the technical regulations for paints and varnishes.

The organization noted that products failing to meet the requirements after the implementation date will be subject to approved regulatory measures.

Manufacturers and suppliers can apply for certification through the "Maneh" online portal at: https://maneh.saso.gov.sa/.
