Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company has announced revised tariffs for water and wastewater services across residential, non-residential, and government sectors, effective January 1, 2027, in line with the country’s energy and water pricing governance procedures.

According to details published on the company’s website, the residential sector will see consumption divided into four tiers with updated rates. The monthly meter service fee will be replaced by a fixed monthly charge, calculated based on meter diameter and the number of additional units.

Residential sector

The first tier covers consumption from zero to 15 cubic meters, priced at 1 riyal per cubic meter for water and 0.5 riyals for wastewater. The second tier, for 16 to 30 cubic meters, will be charged at 2 riyals for water and 1 riyal for wastewater per cubic meter.

The third tier, for 31 to 45 cubic meters, will cost 4 riyals for water and 2 riyals for wastewater per cubic meter. The fourth tier, for consumption above 45 cubic meters, will be priced at 6 riyals for water and 3 riyals for wastewater per cubic meter.

The fixed monthly charge for a basic residential unit varies by meter size: 20 riyals for water and 10 riyals for wastewater for meters up to 20 mm; 40 and 20 riyals for 21–40 mm; 60 and 30 riyals for 41–65 mm; 80 and 40 riyals for 66–100 mm; and 100 and 50 riyals for meters above 100 mm. Each additional unit incurs an extra 20 riyals for water and 10 riyals for wastewater monthly.

Non-residential sector

For the non-residential sector, the company has consolidated consumption into a single tier, priced at 8 riyals per cubic meter for water and 4 riyals for wastewater. The monthly meter service fee will be replaced by a fixed monthly charge based on meter diameter.

The fixed charge is 40 riyals for water and 20 riyals for wastewater for meters up to 20 mm; 60 and 30 riyals for 21–40 mm; 80 and 40 riyals for 41–65 mm; 100 and 50 riyals for 66–100 mm; and 150 and 75 riyals for meters above 100 mm.

Government sector

For the government sector, the consumption rate has been set at 10 riyals per cubic meter for water and 5 riyals for wastewater, with a fixed monthly charge of 1,000 riyals for water and 500 riyals for wastewater.

The announced rates show that wastewater tariffs are set at half the water tariffs across all tiers and sectors, both for per-cubic-meter charges and fixed fees.

Support measures for citizens

The announcement coincides with the Saudi Electricity Company’s revision of electricity tariffs from the same date, and follows directives from King Salman bin Abdulaziz, based on recommendations from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, to introduce several support measures for citizens. These include a monthly allowance of 500 riyals for civilian and military employees and retirees, as well as a monthly subsidy of the same amount for families benefiting from social security.

The company urged subscribers to inquire about tariffs and bills via the unified number 8004411110, its mobile app, or its official website.
