Justice minister highlights key role of appeals courts in judicial quality

Justice Minister Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani, during a meeting with the presidents of appeals courts, emphasized the pivotal role these courts play in enhancing the quality of judicial outcomes. He highlighted the importance of building on recent progress, deepening institutional maturity, and improving judicial quality to positively impact case proceedings and the experience of beneficiaries.

He noted the judiciary's strong support from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the ongoing backing and oversight of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Al-Samaani stressed the need to continue developing and strengthening integration within the judicial system.

The minister underlined the importance of utilizing data and indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and address areas of delay or inconsistency, thereby enhancing judicial quality, expediting case resolution, clarifying procedures, and ensuring consistency in practices. He affirmed that court presidents are responsible for the quality of their courts’ performance and stressed the value of beneficiary feedback in refining procedures and improving user experience.

He also highlighted the significance of technical offices in building judicial knowledge, monitoring and analyzing discrepancies, and leveraging outstanding studies and practices to advance the work. Continuous training, qualification, and enhanced cooperation among relevant entities were also emphasized.

Al-Samaani briefed the appeals court presidents on the ministry’s plans to expand the use of artificial intelligence applications in judicial work, utilizing their capabilities to study and analyze cases and prepare projects, which will contribute to improving outcomes and advancing judicial processes.
