Thunderstorms, hail and strong winds forecast for several regions Wednesday

The National Center of Meteorology has forecast continued moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday, with rainfall likely to cause flash floods, accompanied by hail and strong winds raising dust and sand over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah and Madinah.

The center also indicated that fog formation is possible along coastal areas of Makkah, Madinah and the Eastern Province.

The report added that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly at 12-40 km/h, shifting in the central part from northwesterly to southwesterly and then to westerly to northwesterly at 12-35 km/h in the afternoon. In the southern part, winds will shift from southeasterly to southwesterly, becoming northwesterly to northeasterly at 10-32 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with thunderstorm clouds. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, exceeding two meters during thunderstorms, with sea conditions from slight to moderate, becoming rough with thunderstorm activity.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be northwesterly to southwesterly at 10-28 km/h, and northeasterly to northwesterly at 8-25 km/h, with wave heights from half a meter to one meter and slight sea conditions.
