AICoinciding with the start of the new academic year, the Transport General Authority has emphasized the importance of dealing with licensed and authorized operators in the educational transport sector. The authority affirmed that student safety is a top priority in regulating the sector, and that cooperation between the authority, the Ministry of Education, parents, and service providers helps ensure safe and reliable journeys for students to and from educational institutions.
In a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) account, the authority said that regulating educational transport is part of its efforts to enhance safety standards, improve service quality for beneficiaries, and boost the reliability of transport operations. This is achieved by enforcing regulatory requirements and ensuring that operators, vehicles, and drivers comply with approved safety standards.
The authority called on parents to use only licensed and authorized school transport services, which are available through various channels, and to avoid dealing with unlicensed operators due to the potential risks to student safety and their failure to meet safety requirements and standards.
The authority noted that licensed school buses can be identified by several features, including a yellow license plate, STOP arms on both sides of the bus, a customer service contact number, a sticker reading "School Bus," as well as the license and operating card numbers and the bus number of the service provider displayed at the front and rear of the vehicle.
The Transport General Authority urged the public to report any observations or complaints related to the transport sector via its website: https://www.tga.gov.sa/ar, the unified call center at 19929, or through its customer care account on X.
