Prince Musaad bin Abdulrahman University has launched the second cohort of its SPIN sports technology accelerator in Riyadh, welcoming entrepreneurs and investors.
Key Takeaways
AIPrince Musaad bin Abdulrahman University, represented by its Institute of Research and Studies, has launched the second cohort of the "SPIN" sports technology accelerator under its new identity. The launch ceremony in Riyadh was attended by Prince Fahd bin Mansour bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Chair of the G20 Startup Group, along with entrepreneurs, investors, experts, and representatives from partner organizations.
This cohort builds on the first, which was launched as the "SIO Sports Technology Accelerator." The program aims to support startups, accelerate their growth, develop their products and business models, and enhance their investment readiness and market presence.
The ceremony highlighted the achievements of the first cohort, which included 13 startups, announced new partnerships, and welcomed the companies joining the accelerator's second cohort.
Ongoing support for innovation and startups
University President Dr. Mohammed bin Yahya Mirdhi said the launch of the second cohort underscores the university's ongoing role in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, linking knowledge to market needs, and helping build tech companies capable of making economic and social impact.
He noted that the new program is more mature in its design, focusing on attracting startups that are better prepared for growth, expanding the partner network, and strengthening connections between startups, the market, investors, and the sports ecosystem.
Extensive partnerships and a hybrid model
The accelerator is supported by a distinguished group of partners, including the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha'at), the Saudi Esports Federation, Ath8, VMS, CVentures, Falak Holding, Blossom Accelerator, and TAM. These partnerships provide startups with broad opportunities for market access, investment, and expertise.
The ten-week program adopts a hybrid model, combining remote participation with in-person sessions in Riyadh. It targets startups that have moved beyond the idea stage and are developing or testing products in the market, with a focus on pre-seed and seed stages. Participation is open to companies from both inside and outside the Kingdom.
Accelerating market access and building connections
SPIN focuses on helping startups test their products with customers, develop business models, and prepare for investment, while connecting founders with experts, investors, and partners in the sports sector. This approach opens practical opportunities for growth, relationship-building, and partnerships.
The SPIN accelerator continues, through its second cohort, to build a specialized sports technology ecosystem, provide tech solutions that meet sector needs, and enhance growth and investment opportunities for startups, contributing to the development of the sports tech sector and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the Kingdom.
