Environmental Security seizes unlicensed hunters in Madinah

The Special Forces for Environmental Security have apprehended two citizens for hunting without a license in the Madinah region, as part of their efforts to enforce environmental regulations.

Authorities reported that the offenders were found in possession of a shotgun, an air rifle, 114 rounds of assorted ammunition, a bird-calling device, and two hunted wild animals.

The forces stated that legal measures were taken against the individuals, emphasizing the importance of adhering to environmental laws and regulations that prohibit the hunting of wild species.

Legal penalties and reporting violations

The authorities noted that using shotguns for hunting without a permit carries a fine of 100,000 riyals (SAR), while the use of a bird-calling device incurs a 50,000 riyal fine. Hunting without a license is subject to a 10,000 riyal penalty, hunting in prohibited areas is fined 5,000 riyals, and hunting turtle doves without a permit results in a 1,500 riyal fine.

The forces also urged the public to report any violations against the environment or wildlife by calling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 and 996 in other regions. All reports are confidential and informants bear no liability.
