Saudi Arabia sees shift in charitable giving focused on transparency

Humanitarian affairs expert Dr. Osama Al-Ghamdi said Saudi Arabia is witnessing a qualitative shift in the concept of charitable giving, now centered on transparency and close monitoring to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the nonprofit sector.

Speaking in an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, Al-Ghamdi explained that charitable giving in the past was traditional and focused mainly on providing care. Today, however, it has evolved toward empowerment, productivity, and sustainability.

Al-Ghamdi added that giving has also moved from spontaneous acts to comprehensive institutionalization, supported by platforms and governance frameworks that cover all aspects of the sector.
