Over 63,000 Saudi families move into first homes in H1 2026

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has announced that 63,076 Saudi families moved into their first homes during the first half of 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enable families to own suitable housing and expand access to diverse residential and financing solutions.

The ministry stated that 12,004 Saudi families moved into their first homes in June alone, bringing the total number of families who have settled into their first residence since the beginning of the year to over 63,000.

The ministry also reported that 48,631 Saudi families benefited from housing support services in the first half of this year, with 10,160 families receiving support in June.

It noted that the total number of subsidized housing contracts for beneficiaries since the launch of the "Sakani" program in 2017 reached 1,046,890 contracts by the end of June 2026, reflecting the program's ongoing impact in boosting homeownership opportunities and streamlining the process for Saudi families to obtain housing.

The ministry emphasized that these results are part of the broader efforts by the housing sector to provide a variety of housing and financing solutions, improve service quality for beneficiaries, and accelerate homeownership procedures in collaboration with financial institutions and real estate developers.

It added that the "Sakani" program continues to offer a range of options, including ready-built homes, off-plan units, self-construction, and residential land, enabling beneficiaries to choose the housing solution that best fits their needs and capabilities.

The ministry stated that housing projects implemented in partnership with real estate developers are increasing the supply of homes and developing integrated communities with facilities, services, and open spaces, thereby enhancing quality of life and providing vibrant, sustainable living environments.

The ministry noted that the efforts of the housing sector helped raise the homeownership rate among Saudi families to 66.24% by the end of 2025, marking steady progress toward the Housing Program's Vision 2030 target of 70% homeownership.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing reiterated its commitment to boosting housing supply and expanding available solutions and options for Saudi families, in partnership with the private sector and financial institutions, to support the sustainability of the housing sector and meet the needs of beneficiaries across the Kingdom.
