Saudi flag raised on Bob Palmer-50, one of world's largest offshore rigs

The Transport General Authority has announced the registration of the offshore drilling rig "Bob Palmer-50" under the Saudi flag, in cooperation with ARO, coinciding with World Maritime Day.

The Saudi flag was raised on the rig in the presence of officials from the Transport General Authority, ARO, International Maritime Industries (IMI), and Valaris.

The "Bob Palmer-50" is considered one of the largest offshore drilling platforms in the world. Its registration is part of the Authority's ongoing efforts to attract outstanding marine assets and units to the Saudi registry, aiming to boost the appeal of the national maritime register, increase the size of the national fleet, and raise the total registered tonnage.

Strengthening Saudi Arabia's maritime position

The Transport General Authority stated that registering the rig is a significant addition to the Saudi maritime fleet and reflects progress in the regulatory framework of the Kingdom's maritime sector.

The Authority added that this move enhances Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub, supports the goals of developing the maritime economy and increasing the sector's contribution to the national economy, and strengthens the Kingdom's presence in maritime activities related to transport and marine industries.
