King Salman Humanitarian Center delivers vaccine cooling equipment to Aden and Taiz

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has delivered cold chain equipment for vaccine storage to Yemen’s Ministry of Public Health and Population, including 32 solar-powered refrigerators and 12 freezers, in the governorates of Aden and Taiz.

This initiative is part of a project to strengthen the cold chain system, immunization services, and response to measles outbreaks, in cooperation with the World Health Organization.

Saleh Al-Dhibani, director of the King Salman Center’s office in Aden, said the move reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s health sector and enhancing its capacity to provide essential services to children and vulnerable communities.

Al-Dhibani noted that supplying solar-powered refrigerators and freezers ensures efficient vaccine storage in health facilities, especially in areas facing electricity supply challenges.

Strengthening disease surveillance and immunization services

Al-Dhibani added that the project also aims to boost the measles surveillance system and improve the skills of technical staff for early case detection, reporting, epidemiological investigation, and sample transport, contributing to rapid response and containment of outbreaks.

The project is expected to enable vaccination services against measles and rubella for around 348,282 children in Aden and Taiz.

This support is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts through the King Salman Center to ensure the continuity of immunization services in Yemen’s most vulnerable areas, expand vaccine access, and reduce measles-related infections.
