Saudi anti-corruption chief thanks leadership after GlobE Network info-sharing deal

Mazin bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous, President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, expressed his gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman following the Kingdom’s signing of an information exchange agreement among members of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network).

The agreement was signed in Vienna on the sidelines of the network’s seventh general meeting at the United Nations headquarters. Al-Kahmous, who represented Saudi Arabia, emphasized that the Authority enjoys strong support from the leadership for its local and international initiatives to safeguard integrity and promote international cooperation, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s focus on transparency, accountability, and combating corruption.

Al-Kahmous explained that the agreement aims to strengthen international cooperation and facilitate the secure and swift exchange of information, supporting efforts to detect, investigate, and prosecute corruption crimes and recover stolen assets.

Saudi Arabia’s role in founding the network and enhancing international cooperation

The Authority’s president highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to boosting information exchange and leveraging international cooperation mechanisms, as reflected in its active membership in the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities and the GlobE Network. He also noted international recognition of Saudi Arabia’s efforts and initiatives in this field.

The signing of the agreement is part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation and information sharing among law enforcement agencies fighting corruption.

Saudi achievements in supporting the network

During its presidency of the G20 in 2020, Saudi Arabia launched an initiative to establish a secure platform for information exchange among anti-corruption authorities. The initiative was welcomed by G20 leaders under the chairmanship of King Salman, and the network was launched under the United Nations in June 2021, with UN Secretary-General António Guterres commending the Kingdom’s role at its launch.

The network now includes 252 law enforcement agencies from 137 countries, along with more than 16 organizations as observers. Saudi Arabia will assume the presidency of the network for the 2025–2027 term in February 2025, after Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Abaalkhail, Deputy President for International Cooperation, was unanimously elected as its head.
