Saudi customs intercepts 1,073 contraband cases in one week

Saudi Arabia's land, sea, and air customs outlets recorded 1,073 contraband seizures last week, according to the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). The announcement comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and protect society from various types of prohibited items.

The confiscated items included 70 categories of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills, among others. In addition, 216 types of other banned substances were seized.

Customs officials also thwarted 888 attempts to smuggle tobacco and its derivatives, along with 13 cases involving undeclared cash, and one case related to weapons and their accessories.

ZATCA affirmed its commitment to maintaining strict customs control over imports and exports to ensure public safety, working in close cooperation with all relevant authorities.

The authority also urged the public to help combat smuggling and protect the national economy by reporting suspicious activities via the dedicated hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or international number (009661910). Reports are handled confidentially, and informants may receive a financial reward if their information proves accurate.
