Qassim University climbs over 100 places in 2026 Shanghai ranking

Qassim University has achieved a significant leap in the 2026 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), moving into the 701–800 range globally—an improvement of more than 100 places compared to its 2025 ranking.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that the university has been listed among the world’s top 1,000 universities, highlighting its continuous progress in research and academic performance, as well as its growing competitiveness and excellence on the international stage.

Majed bin Fadhi Al-Anzi, Vice President for Business Development and Community Partnership, stated that this achievement demonstrates the university’s ongoing development and commitment to enhancing the quality of its academic and research outputs. He added that strengthening the university’s research ecosystem contributes to its improved standing in global rankings, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to advance higher education and elevate the international status of Saudi universities.

The Shanghai ranking (ARWU) evaluates universities based on a range of academic and research indicators, including the distinction of graduates and staff who have received prestigious international awards, the number of highly cited researchers, publications in Nature and Science, the volume of globally indexed research, and several other academic performance metrics.
