Saudi passports authority clarifies key queries on lost and renewed passports

The General Directorate of Passports has addressed the most frequently asked questions regarding the new electronic services for Saudi passports, through its official account on the X platform.

The authority stated that citizens can electronically issue a replacement passport if theirs is lost, after reporting the loss and completing the required procedures, via their Absher account.

Regarding the use of a passport after renewal, the Passports Authority confirmed that citizens can check the status of their passport on Absher by navigating to: "My Services > Services > Passports > Check Passport Status." If the passport is active, it can be used for travel. If it is inactive, the previous passport must be brought to a Passports office or border outlet to activate the new passport.

For those with travel plans within less than a week, the authority explained that the passport can be renewed electronically through Absher, with the option to select express delivery after paying the required fees.

Passport status verification service

In the same context, the Passports Authority clarified that the passport status verification service allows citizens to know whether their passport is active or inactive, but it does not replace the need to activate the passport if it is inactive.
