Environment ministry extends well water permit deadline to July 2027

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has extended the deadline for obtaining permits to use well water for various purposes by one year, now ending on 5 Safar 1449 AH (corresponding to July 9, 2027). The move is part of efforts to streamline regulatory procedures and promote water sustainability.

The ministry explained that the extension aims to simplify the process for issuing well water usage permits, regulate the use of groundwater, contribute to water sustainability, and ensure the continuity of beneficiaries' activities. This is expected to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of water resource management.

The ministry stated that the extension applies to individuals, government entities, businesses, and the non-profit sector. All eligible parties are encouraged to take advantage of the extended period and complete the permit application process within the specified timeframe.

However, the ministry clarified that the extension does not apply to permits for local agricultural companies, major wheat farmers, water tanker activities, or bottled water factories, as these are subject to separate regulations and procedures.
