Participants arrive in Makkah for King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition

All participants in the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Qur’an have arrived at the event venue in Makkah, ahead of the preliminary rounds starting today and the final rounds tomorrow at the Grand Mosque.

The competition, held under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, features 334 male and female contestants from 133 countries across various continents.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has deployed specialized teams working around the clock to welcome participants, complete their registration procedures, and provide hospitality, accommodation, and transportation services. A cultural and enrichment program will also run alongside the competition, aiming to offer participants a unique spiritual and cultural experience during their stay in Makkah.

Several participants expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s leadership and people for their warm welcome, generous hospitality, and professional organization, noting that these efforts reflect the Kingdom’s Islamic mission and its leading role in serving the Qur’an.

International judging panel and record prizes

The competition is judged by a panel of leading international experts in Qur’anic recitation and rules, with an electronic evaluation system in place to ensure accuracy and transparency. The total prize pool exceeds 10 million riyals (SAR), underscoring the event’s status as one of the world’s largest Qur’an competitions.
