Fifth Saudi Arabic language institutions forum opens in Riyadh

The fifth coordination forum for Saudi institutions concerned with the Arabic language opened today in Riyadh. Organized by the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language, the two-day event is held under the theme "The National Policy for the Arabic Language in Saudi Arabia: From Regulatory Framework to Institutional Implementation," and features broad participation from specialized organizations.

Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of the Academy, said the forum’s fifth edition reflects the Academy’s commitment to the national Arabic language policy, which was approved by the Council of Ministers. He noted that the forum aims to build an integrated institutional framework that enhances cooperation among entities and supports national initiatives to develop and promote the Arabic language.

Al-Washmi also expressed appreciation for the support given to the Academy’s programs and projects by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees. He stressed that this backing highlights the status of the Arabic language in the Kingdom and strengthens national efforts to advance institutional work in the linguistic sector.

Strengthening institutional cooperation

The forum is being held for the fifth consecutive year, continuing the Academy’s efforts to serve the Arabic language by fostering communication among linguistic institutions and aligning their goals. It also facilitates knowledge exchange among stakeholders and experts, and underscores the importance of partnership in all linguistic achievements.

Alongside the forum, a special exhibition allowed participants to explore programs, projects, and initiatives, further enhancing collaboration among the participating organizations.

Recommendations to boost institutional language work

The forum concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at supporting institutional language work and strengthening cooperation among Saudi organizations dedicated to the Arabic language. This event is part of the Academy’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its scientific and linguistic authority in serving, teaching, and promoting the Arabic language, and to highlight the role of national institutions in developing and planning Arabic language education.
