Four main road routes link Riyadh and Qassim, boosting tourism and agriculture

The significant expansion of Saudi Arabia’s road network, now spanning more than 73,000 km, has helped the Kingdom achieve the top global ranking for road connectivity, according to reports from the World Competitiveness Forum. This progress is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen links between cities and provinces and to facilitate movement across different regions.

The Roads Authority stated that the road sector is a vital foundation supporting many key industries, especially tourism and agriculture. Qassim, located in the central-northern part of the Kingdom, features an advanced road network exceeding 6,225 km in length. This network supports economic, tourism, and agricultural activity, and makes it easier for visitors to reach the region’s historic palaces and diverse farms.

Details of main routes between Riyadh and Qassim

The authority noted that travelers driving from Riyadh to Qassim can choose from four main routes, each varying in distance, travel time, and the towns they pass through, providing multiple options for road users.

• The first and fastest route starts in Riyadh, passes through Al-Majma’ah, and reaches Qassim. It is about 342 km long and takes approximately three and a half hours.
• The second route passes through Diriyah, Huraymila, and Shaqra, covering around 394 km with a travel time of about four hours.
• The third route goes through Al-Muzahimiyah, Dhurma, and Shaqra, with a length of about 397 km and a journey time of around four hours.
• The fourth route passes through Al-Quwaiiyah, Al-Muhammadiyah, and Sajir, stretching approximately 691 km and taking about six hours to complete.

Qassim borders five administrative regions: Hail to the north, Madinah to the west, Riyadh to the south, the Eastern Province to the east, and meets the Northern Borders region at its northwestern edge.

Qassim is one of Saudi Arabia’s leading agricultural regions, known for its abundant and diverse vegetation. It is home to one of the world’s largest palm farms and date markets, reinforcing its status as a major agricultural, tourism, and economic destination.
