Pakistan to continue constructive role with Saudi Arabia, Turkey in regional security, says PM

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that his country will continue, in cooperation with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, to play a constructive role in ensuring the defense of Pakistan and the wider region.

Sharif's remarks came in response to a tweet by US President Donald Trump regarding the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, in which he expressed deep appreciation for Trump's supportive words on the occasion of the agreement's signing.

Sharif also praised what he described as President Trump's "bold and decisive leadership," noting that this leadership helped avert a nuclear catastrophe in South Asia and saved millions of lives.

The Pakistani prime minister stressed that achieving lasting peace is the fundamental condition for a bright and prosperous future for the region's peoples.
