AIDr. Fahd Al-Majid, Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars, said that the Houthi targeting of civilian facilities, airports, and holy sites ranks among the gravest crimes and represents the highest degree of criminality.
In an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, he added that the Houthi militia has targeted civilian infrastructure, airports, and even schools, as well as, before and after that, the holy sites in Mecca and Medina. He noted that these are serious crimes which, according to Islamic law, are considered among the most severe offenses.
He continued, saying that this terrorist Houthi militia has attacked holy sites, citing the Quranic verse: "And whoever intends a deviation therein by wrongdoing—We will make him taste a painful punishment." He added that the group has also targeted unarmed civilians, causing the deaths of both young and old, men and women, and even those traveling to the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina have not been spared.
He went on to describe the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization in every sense of the word, stating that it kills, destroys, and targets mosques, and is not deterred by religion, morals, or even international norms. He said the group is completely outside the global order, no different from Daesh or Al-Qaeda, and recent revelations have shown its cooperation with other terrorist groups. He emphasized that the "terrorist" label applies to the group in every respect: its origins, its crimes, and its objectives.
He added that such crimes are not surprising from a militia that has become a source of misery, destruction, and a heavy burden for the Yemeni people themselves. He questioned what could be expected for their regional neighbors and the world at large. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that their end is near, with many signs pointing to this outcome. He said their criminal nature ensures a violent end, and above all, they are defying God, and those who oppose God will not succeed in this life or the hereafter.
