Jordan condemns attempted drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities

Jordan has condemned the attacks that attempted to target oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and Riyadh.

According to a statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the attempted targeting of oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh by drones launched from Iraqi territory constitutes a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, a threat to its security and stability, and a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures the Kingdom takes to protect its sovereignty, security, resources, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, confirmed that air defenses had intercepted and destroyed several drones in recent hours that attempted to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh.

Al-Malki explained that these terrorist attempts originated from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-backed militias, stressing Saudi Arabia’s inherent right to defend itself and its assets, and its right to respond at a time and place of its choosing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed the Kingdom’s strongest condemnation of the attacks carried out by drones launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq, affirming Saudi Arabia’s determination to safeguard its security and sovereignty and deter aggressors, while emphasizing its right to respond to the sources of aggression.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the need for the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks.
