Heavy rain and flash flood warnings issued for several Saudi regions

The National Center for Meteorology, in its daily report, forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms that may trigger flash floods, accompanied by hail, over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions.

The report indicated that light to moderate rain is expected over parts of Madinah, with active surface winds raising dust and sand in those areas as well as parts of Riyadh region.

The center also noted that fog formation is expected to persist overnight and into the early morning hours along the coastal areas of Makkah and the Eastern Province.

Sea and wind conditions

The report added that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly at 20–43 km/h, and southwesterly to northwesterly at 15–30 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with the formation of thunderstorm clouds. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, possibly exceeding two meters during thunderstorms. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, becoming rough during thunderstorms.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly at 10–25 km/h, and southeasterly to northeasterly at similar speeds. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one meter, with generally slight sea conditions.
