GCC reaffirms full support for Saudi Arabia’s security measures

Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, welcomed the statement issued by members of the UN Security Council on Friday, August 7, 2026, which condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as attacks targeting commercial vessels since July 22.

The Secretary-General stressed that GCC states strongly condemn these repeated terrorist attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, describing them as blatant violations of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a direct threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity. He warned that targeting commercial ships and threatening international maritime navigation represents a dangerous escalation that jeopardizes regional security and stability.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding these serious assaults, to take a firm stance in holding the Houthi militia accountable for its repeated attacks and violations, and to work toward an immediate and urgent halt to these aggressions.

He reaffirmed the GCC’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in confronting any threats to its security, sovereignty, and stability, and expressed support for all measures the Kingdom takes to protect its territory and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.
