Umm Al-Qura University continues student exchange with St George’s, University of London

Umm Al-Qura University is continuing the second edition of its international student exchange program in collaboration with St George’s, University of London in the United Kingdom, focusing on clinical medicine through an advanced summer training program.

The initiative aims to provide students with global learning experiences, enhance their clinical and professional skills, and support international academic cooperation in medical and health fields. It is part of the university’s efforts to strengthen its international partnerships through academic and research programs.

The program includes sending a group of outstanding medical students to participate in intensive training at St George’s Hospital in the UK. The training covers in-hospital supervision, accompanying medical teams, case assessment and decision-making processes, and working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Participants are also introduced to the UK healthcare system, medical education methods, and scientific research approaches. The program promotes problem-based learning and allows students to compare educational and healthcare experiences between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

Enhancing skills and advancing university goals

Warda Al-Asmari, Vice President for Business Development and Community Partnership at Umm Al-Qura University, said the program aims to develop students’ clinical and professional skills, familiarize them with the latest international medical practices, and enable them to work in multicultural healthcare environments, helping to prepare more competent and ready medical professionals.

She added that the program aligns with Umm Al-Qura University’s 2027 strategy to strengthen international partnerships, refine students’ academic and personal skills, broaden their perspectives, and prepare graduates to compete locally and globally, in line with labor market needs and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
