Extreme heat and dust storms forecast for several Saudi regions Monday

The National Center of Meteorology, in its daily weather report, forecast continued hot to extremely hot conditions in the Eastern Province and parts of Riyadh, Madinah, and Makkah on Monday.

The report noted that active winds raising dust and sand will persist across parts of these regions, as well as areas of the Northern Borders, Al-Jouf, and Tabuk. Visibility may drop to near zero along the coastal road leading to Jazan.

Additionally, suspended dust will continue to affect western and southwestern regions, with a chance of thunderclouds bringing rain over parts of the highlands, especially in the south, and in areas of Najran.

Wind patterns and sea conditions

The report indicated that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 12–34 km/h, reaching up to 45 km/h over the central and southern parts, and possibly 50 km/h with thunderclouds in the south.

Wave heights in the Red Sea will range from 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the north, and from 1 to 2 meters in the central and southern sections, exceeding 2 meters with thunderstorms in the south. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, becoming rough with thunderclouds.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds will be northwesterly to southwesterly, shifting to southeasterly in the evening at 15–30 km/h in the northern and central parts, and southeasterly to northeasterly at 10–28 km/h in the south. Wave heights will be between 0.5 and 1 meter, with slight sea conditions.
